This morning around 3am, I decided to celebrate November by making pumpkin bread with chocolate chips. Yes, it’s orange, but I don’t think we should blame the color orange for the sideshow that is presidential candidate, Donald Trump.

Yes, that’s Trump’s face in my pumpkin bread.

Early this morning, I voted for Hillary at a local community center. Now, if she wins and totally messes up the country, I’ll feel bad that I voted for her. Maybe people who voted for George W. Bush feel the same way.

I was surprised to see Trump’s name at the very top of my ballot, with Hillary’s underneath. Not that it matters — I just wondered who’s decision it was to put Trump’s name first.

As an example of how apathetic the political process has become, there was more than one race on my ballot with only one candidate.

I arrived about 10 minutes after the polling place opened and there was a line of about 15 people ahead of me. Right in front of me was a couple with a large German shepherd wearing a vest that said “in training.” His trainer said it was for a veteran with PTSD.

I had read that strangers shouldn’t approach a service dog, but since the dog was in training, his trainer said I could pet him. I was like, I can’t tell if he’s a dog or a horse.

After I voted, I went to the store for some fresh veggies. I asked the cashier if he was going to vote today. Dude said he wanted to vote for Gary Johnson, and I’m like, I don’t think Johnson is smart enough to be president. The cashier must have been in his early 20s. Didn’t even know the polling places are open until 7pm. He tried to pretend that he might vote after he gets off work at 3pm, but his face said he just didn’t care.

  1. I think a lot of people don’t care. It’s sad. I want to encourage people to vote. But not if they are voting for Trump. LOL. I’ve never felt this way before.
I had a number of races running unopposed too. It is sad.
I did a lot of research on my local elections before voting. Voted early. Was happy to see how many people were out doing the same.
Love your cartoon! Serving up a skinny person any time soon? I hear they’re all skin and bones.

  2. I feel bad I screwed up my ballot request. I wanted to vote, but the brain fart triumphs.

I love pumpkin bread, pumpkin cake, pumpkin brownies…
Libby’s canned pumpkin is actually Hubbard squash, not sugar pumpkin. I guess it’s easier to process because it’s not as stringy? Regardless, winter squash is tasty stuff.

  3. Great post. Mmmmmm, your punkin bread looks muyyyyyyy sabroso. Mouth is watering! Oh wait, maybe that’s just benzo withdrawal. Nope, I am sure it’s the baked yumminess that I can’t eat because, gluten. Bah humbug.

I will be very relieved to wake up tomorrow to the sounds of the Orange Sideshow macher gnashing his teeth and hissing, “Fixed election! Recount! Fire! Water! Earthquake! Bust the unions!” Although, during my travels in heavily union-type places, the Trumpty-Dumpty signs are uplifting uglifying lawns all over the place. Wonder what they think he would actually do for them??? Wonder if he uses union workers for his building projects???

    • I wish I had a next door neighbor to share with. I have to put most of it in the freezer, which is fine, but I like fresh food. The pumpkin bread is delicious. I just had a piece with melted butter poured over the top. Makes it nice and soft to eat. And I added a little bit of maple syrup to the glaze… total yum fest. My taste buds are dancing and singing. 🙂

        • I have a few green friends, but aliens are picky eaters. Mostly pizza and Dilly Bars. And they can’t visit very often because Earth’s atmosphere is so polluted. However, most of the aliens I know did risk a visit to Earth today to vote. 🙂

my grandad always told me growing up that if you do not vote then you do not have any right to say anything…so since I was old enough to vote I have been…even my alien friends too lol…

  5. I love pumpkin bread, and your pics made my mouth water. As for voting, I wish I could but I’m not a citizen (but here legally!). I’ve paid way more attention to this election than usual and it’s made me a bit anxious. I think I need some chocolate and to step away from the new feeds until tomorrow morning. It’s gonna be a long night….

  6. I was worried that too many people wouldn’t care this year, but the long lines I’m hearing about make me think it may be record breaking (Or the news making something out of nothing for ratings.) I proudly voted for Hillary.
