After a fitful period of sleep earlier today, I awoke with the beginnings of a pain storm. What did I do yesterday to cause it?  Seriously, I don’t know.

I made triple chocolate brownies, which is a lot of work but well worth it. They are scrumptious! But I didn’t overextend myself physically. There were no abrupt changes in weather yesterday. And there were no episodes of crying or talking, which can also exacerbate my jaw pain.

The only thing I can think of is that I did more smiling than usual yesterday, which also increases my facial pain. And it really sucks that feeling happy can cause additional pain.

Bud, wherefore art thou?  I really need you.

  1. I totally understand about chronic pain. I have Crohn’s disease, which isn’t one of those glamorous maladies like Cancer or Alzheimer’s. It isn’t a topic for polite conversation and nobody throws society event fundraisers for it with tickets costing thousands of dollars. However, it could always be worse and I applaud your treating pain with copious amounts of chocolate. My father was an ER doctor for 30+ years and he always said chocolate was the cure for the common cold (and pretty much everything else). Pain is awful (I was just in a car accident last Wednesday, so that’s fun) but like Westley says in The Princess Bride, ‘Life is pain. Anyone who says differently is selling something.”

    • I loved The Princess Bride. Can you believe it’s been 28 years since that movie came out? And chocolate is not only good for physical pain, it’s good for the soul. 🙂

Sorry to hear about your car accident — just makes everything worse.
