Re: Closed captioning for “Last Week Tonight” on YouTube
To whom it may concern:
I have a friend who is deaf and she has been unable to watch Last Week Tonight because of the problems with closed captioning on YouTube. I’m sorry if this email has been sent to you erroneously, but I’m not on Facebook or Twitter, so I don’t know how to communicate with John Oliver. I went to the HBO “site feedback” website, but all I got was a black screen, and I can’t find an email address for YouTube. If you could forward this email to the correct people, I would really appreciate it.

WOW! You did this? That’s your real name ? You know that I left a message to youtube and told them to use subtitles instead of cc. Next thing I knew they added the word subtitle along with cc! It is not subtitled!

Sure, that’s my real name. Sounds like Donna, but with a “J.”

I don’t run into the lack of captions option as much anymore, but up until a few years ago it was hell to find captions on anything online. Go you for writing a message to them!

Anxious Mom, When it’s cc. It does not match the spoken word at all!

I rarely try to listen to the words, I just read, my husband notices sometimes when things don’t match up and is like “does this not bother you?!”

Anxious Mom, It bothers me because I ended up not knowing what the shows about.

Now I’m wondering how much I’ve actually missed. Hmm.

Anxious Mom , I know I have! You know the foreign films? It’s subtitled and very excellent! CC on Youtube, no good.
