Rob Shirkey jokes that he wants billionaires to call him, but he’s serious. The Toronto lawyer is mortgaging his house to help fuel a personal mission to convince cities across North America to slap climate change warning stickers on gas pumps…

As much as I respect the guy I doubt this will have much impact. Unfortunately fuel is a necessary material to life right now and until we find a suitable alternative people will still pump their cars full. It might work in a similar way to warnings on a pack of cigarettes, showing and raising awareness but ultimately having a small impact.
Perhaps a better way to go is to pursue other alternatives to lower fuel consumption like make carpooling worthwhile by giving discounts or other benefits.
Either way I hope he keeps fighting the good fight.
