Monster Unleaded tastes just like Original Monster; citrusy, sweet, and carbonated. If you like the taste of original, you’ll like Unleaded as well.

Here’s where this energy drink gets interesting as it is lacking caffeine, but still is wanting to be labeled as an energy drink. There is no caffeine rush from this drink, but perhaps just a slight sugar rush. Monster strays a bit from their standard energy blend and replaces the caffeine with an additional amino acid, L-Arginine.

According to WebMD:

L-arginine is converted in the body into a chemical called nitric oxide. Nitric oxide causes blood vessels to open wider for improved blood flow. L-arginine also stimulates the release of growth hormone, insulin, and other substances in the body.

They also add glucose to their energy blend, but this is just a simple sugar of which most carbs we eat are converted to anyway by our bodies…
