Susanna Kaysen, admitted to the hospital for mental exhaustion and a suicide attempt, is diagnosed with borderline personality disorder…
Susanna explicitly questioned her diagnosis during her hospitalization. She felt that what others perceived as inappropriate, tiring behavior were hallmark characteristics of young adulthood. She criticized the DSM as a vague collection of generalizations, often subjectively applied to those who do not conform to social norms…
Frankly, I think that any labeling of human beings is inappropriate. Labels are for tin cans. The DSM-V makes it possible to treat any living condition as pathology. It is damning and shaming vehicle used to judge.

I love brainyquotes.com… Why try to say something when someone else has said it better? π

Well she the femme fatale with A dose of pubescent angst. Though Britanny Murphy stole the show and perhaps Winona Ryder did a lot to confuse it all as well. Let’s go play crazy.

A Girl Interrupted is one of my favorite movies, but c’mon, Angelina Jolie was the one who stole the show, making an unlikeable character totally sympathetic. And Winona just has to look at the camera without saying a word to be compelling… Yes, I’m with you, let’s go play crazy — maybe I could get some good drugs. π
